“AI will impact every industry, but healthcare may see the most profound transformation.” – Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google
IVF chains embrace AI transformation
Indian fertility clinics are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance affordability and success rates in in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). Leading operators such as Nova IVF, Birla Fertility, Prime IVF, Ferty9 and Motherhood IVF are adopting AI-driven systems for embryo and sperm selection, aiming to boost accuracy, cut costs and improve outcomes nationwide.
Nova IVF leads with AI embryo grading
Bengaluru-based Nova IVF recently rolled out Vita Embryo, an AI tool co-developed with South Korea’s Kai Health to assess embryos. The clinic reports a 12 per cent rise in pregnancy rates and better embryo ranking accuracy. Despite high setup costs due to licensing and infrastructure, the clinic’s leadership believes that AI integration is vital for consistent and evidence-based fertility outcomes.
AI for sperm and embryo analysis
Hyderabad’s Ferty9 has launched AI-powered sperm analysis, capable of assessing over 3,000 sperm cells to detect DNA breaks and improve diagnosis speed by 80 per cent. Birla Fertility & IVF, meanwhile, is developing an AI-based grading tool combining patient data and clinical expertise to make the process more predictive and safer for patients.
Market growth and regulation
Experts expect India’s fertility market to reach ₹12,000–14,000 crore by 2028 with around 550,000 IVF cycles annually. AI integration could also support compliance with India’s ART Act of 2021, which prioritises single-embryo transfers to reduce medical risks while maintaining patient safety.
Future outlook
Clinics are also investing in personalised treatment maps, predictive models for IVF success, and egg-freezing technologies. As AI continues to reshape fertility science, experts argue that while it cannot replace clinicians, it can make fertility care far more precise and inclusive.
