"AI will be the greatest tool humanity has yet created." - Sam Altman, OpenAI
Why do you exist
Any technology mission should have a goal. Unlike Apollo, most of modern tech lacks defined goals. Human society pours billions into infrastructure without knowing what to achieve. Technology has become an end in itself rather than a means to human progress. This shift indicates that societies now relate to technological development in an aimless way. Albert Einstein had warned that humans ought to keep technology a slave, not allowing it to be the master.
Circular logic
Firms spend billions believing tech is the future. AI firm OpenAI's Sam Altman even floated $7 trillion as a necessary cost. This justification is circular, prioritizing scale over solving specific problems or human needs. We treat the tools as the goal rather than the actual solution. The AI honchos are building a dreamworld of theiw own.

Ignoring global challenges
While we fund systems, millions suffer from hunger. The WHO says universal health coverage costs less than speculative tech. We choose sophisticated tools over basic needs like clean water and health, ignoring problems we already know how to solve with existing, much cheaper methods.
Hidden costs
Training models consumes vast electricity, increasing emissions. These impacts are overlooked. We automate unnecessary tasks while ignoring the ecological damage caused by mining operations and the massive energy needs of data centers. This justifies automation that was never truly needed for human survival.
A new era of global competition
This race lacks verification methods. Countries compete without clear purpose beyond winning. Such competition makes cooperation impossible and turns breakthroughs into threats that resist traditional diplomacy, hindering a peaceful world. We are building permanent competition based on unexamined assumptions about national survival.
Summary
Aimless tech investment ignores global crises like hunger. Humanity seems to have stopped defining our tools' purposes, fueling a dangerous and unverified geopolitical race while neglecting basic human needs, sanitation, and environmental health across the planet.Check our posts on AI and humanity's future; click here
Food for thought
If we can afford trillions for speculative AI, why do we fail to fund basic human survival?AI concept to learn: Artificial General Intelligence
Artificial general intelligence is a theoretical form of AI that can learn and apply knowledge across various tasks at a human level. It aims for broad cognitive abilities and remains a primary goal for developers. Unlike narrow systems, it seeks to replicate general human problem solving skills.
