Gap in digital journey

India has a robust digital infrastructure but users face broken journeys. Apps show conflicting transaction statuses which leaves people anxious. Systems work technically but fail to explain themselves clearly. This is not good if AI scaling in future is considered.

Missing 'experience layer'

Experts say that foundational layers handle identity and money flows well. However, no infrastructure is currently responsible for the continuity of a user's experience. This forces people to manually coordinate between banks to resolve errors.

Intelligence at edge (i.e. user end)

Most Indians use smartphones where signals like bank alerts converge. By combining this data with on-device intelligence, a new layer called experience DPI emerges. This allows the phone to see the complete transaction picture. So Experience DPI = AI on phone + Existing messaging abilities.

Language and clear interpretation

On-device AI will explain failures in the user's language with helpful context. Instead of a generic error, it will provide a coherent explanation. This will turn a technical moment into a reassuring interaction for the citizen. This may be a great real-world positive AI use-case.

Building a more inclusive stack

This approach shifts the coordination burden from the citizen to the technology. It applies to healthcare and government benefits beyond payments. This makes the India Stack ecosystem more human and accessible for all.

Summary

India's digital infrastructure needs on-device AI to resolve confusion caused by conflicting app notifications. By interpreting technical data into clear explanations, this technology removes the burden of coordination from the user. This makes digital services more inclusive everywhere.

Food for thought

As we rely on AI to explain system failures, are we ignoring the need to build simpler systems that do not break?

AI concept to learn: On-device AI

On-device AI refers to intelligence that runs directly on a smartphone instead of a distant server. This allows the device to process private information like alerts quickly while maintaining privacy. It allows the phone to act as a contextual personal assistant.
