Reliance’s Jio Haptik launches AI agents for small businesses in India
Reliance’s Jio has unveiled enterprise-grade AI agents for small and medium businesses (SMBs) through its Jio Haptik arm, starting at ₹10,000. The move is aimed at helping small enterprises embrace automation with conversational AI that can respond, assist, and operate 24/7 while maintaining data privacy and reliability.
Empowering SMBs through automation
The offering, under Jio Haptik’s “Interakt” platform, is already being used by over 50,000 SMBs. The new AI features enable WhatsApp and voice integrations that automate customer support and booking tasks. Small firms, from clinics to real estate agencies, can use these agents to handle routine queries, follow-ups, and lead management without human involvement.
Affordable and scalable solutions
The pricing, ranging from ₹3 to ₹5 per conversation, cuts operational costs by nearly half compared to human agents. With support for 22 Indian languages, the system is designed for scalability, particularly benefiting tier-2 and tier-3 cities where multilingual communication is essential.
Cost efficiency and adoption
According to Jio Haptik, businesses could save up to 50% on customer service expenses by adopting AI-powered conversations. However, experts emphasize that emotional and contextual understanding remain vital for small enterprises, and success will depend on visible ROI and adoption confidence.
The road ahead for Indian SMBs
While the technology promises affordability and efficiency, acceptance among small business owners will depend on trust, clarity of value, and ease of integration. Jio’s initiative marks another step in democratizing AI for India’s vast SMB ecosystem.
