Equal AI introduces India’s first caller assistant
Hyderabad-based Equal AI has launched India’s first artificial intelligence (AI) Caller Assistant, an innovation aimed at tackling the growing menace of spam and unknown calls. The app, set for early access on October 2, will initially be available to 10,000 Android users in Delhi NCR before expanding to Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
Reimagining how calls are handled
The Caller Assistant answers unknown calls in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, interacting directly with the caller to determine the purpose of the call. Unlike typical spam filters, it engages in real-time, allowing users to either take the message or ignore the call. Designed to handle deliveries, directions, and telemarketing queries, it offers a two-way AI conversation system.
Designed for India’s linguistic diversity
Equal AI emphasized that the assistant is built specifically for Indian users, capable of handling local languages, accents, and names. The company’s goal is to reach one million daily users by March 2026. The AI’s fluency in Indian linguistic patterns makes it unique among global caller management systems.
Addressing spam and trust challenges
With over 60% of Indians receiving multiple spam calls daily, Equal AI’s innovation aims to restore user trust and reduce interruptions. Controlled trials revealed an 87% drop in interruptions, 73% less time spent on delivery coordination, and 94% accuracy in spam detection. Saved contacts are automatically excluded, ensuring privacy and accuracy.
Building a safer communication future
Equal AI’s approach marks a step toward personalized, culturally aware AI solutions for everyday life. As India grapples with rising spam and fraud calls, such tools could redefine how users manage communication and digital trust.
Summary
Equal AI’s Caller Assistant redefines how Indians handle spam and unknown calls through interactive, multilingual AI. With high detection accuracy and India-focused design, it promises a smarter, more secure calling experience for millions of users.
